Swamp cooler

This is how Rottweiler Roofing reroofs a swamp cooler. First, we put a thick gauge aluminum plate under the feet. This is for two different reasons. The first is to stabilize the plywood so the feet don't punch through the plywood, also often times that area is already soft because it has been wet in the past. The second reason is that so the final roofing screw with a neoprene washer has something to grab on to. All too often that spot has many holes in the plywood from previous screws or nails, so the plate gives the screw something to bite into. Nothing is worse than the final screw hits an old hole and just strips out. Then what do you do? The screw didn't hit anything and now you have a hole in the roof. That is why we always put plates under the feet. We feel that this step is mandatory and should never be skipped.

The next step for Rottweiler Roofing is to wrap water shield around the swamp cooler, under the flashing starting from the bottom, sides then the top. The top piece goes on top of the upper flashing. The bottom piece needs to lap on top of the shingles.
